Hi everyone, I’m Gigi Canta CEO from Deseo.
I am a registered nurse, and my neighbor Marsy is an artist. I needed a creative outlet because so much empathy, love, and energy goes into caring for patients, but in a corporate medical career, there are strict protocols and not much room for creativity. I wanted to offer something genuine and pure, to continue serving others, but in a way that allowed me to think outside the box. That’s how Deseo was born.
Deseo means “desire” in Spanish. Our motto is: “Whatever you deseo, we can create it.”
Marsy and I both lived in the West End, across from a farm, and we wanted to bring excitement and beauty to everyday events — especially for people who couldn’t always afford them. We aim to serve anyone, regardless of their budget, because we believe everyone deserves to feel celebrated.
Marsy went to art school and was the first woman to design sets for movies in the Dominican Republic. She grew up with limited resources but earned a full scholarship to pursue her passion. We value people not by their income, but by who they are at their core.
As a nurse, I shared the same belief. That shared perspective is what sparked the beginning of Deseo.
